Ebreo e socialista indifferente, il ragazzo di mette a lavorare presso un commerciante all'ingrosso. Le prime esperienze amorose di un ragazzo nella Trieste del 1898 iniziano con un rapporto omossessuale. Poi il giovane incontra due gemelli, rampolli di una ricca famiglia ebrea e legati da un complesso rapporto, che s'invaghiscono entrambi di lui, Pur inclinando verso il maschio, is accasa con la sorella. 

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION:
From the novel by Umbert Saba, Salvatore Samperi draws a portrait of a young man, in amazing colours. Trieste, 1911. Ernesto, sixteen, lives with his mother in the house of his uncle's guardians. An indifferent Jew and socialist, the boy sets off to work for a wholesaler. The first love experiences of a boy in Trieste in 1898 begin with a homosexual relationship. Then the young man meets two twins, scions of a rich Jewish family and linked by a complex relationship, who both fall in love with him. While leaning towards the male, he marries their sister.
