ENGLISH DESCRIPTION:
After celebrating the mountains and their secrets and giving life to epic characters born in the woods, Mauro Corona lends his warm and powerful voice to a woman, to tell his life studded with misfortunes but supported by an unshakable courage. The protagonist of this ballad is tormented by the fatigue of the days and the brutality of men: behind her she has to work in the fields or inside the house, the abuses of a violent husband, years emptied of all joy except love for her children. It embodies the fate of many mothers and wives who lived in patriarchal civilizations, and together she is a proud woman, crossed by a feeling of painful indignation. She has no hope in front of her, if not waiting for death to "put her wings on and fly to heaven". Until one day, strangers arrive in the village to build a dam, finally bringing some well-being... the Ertana woman does not yet know that on 9 October 1963 it will be precisely that dam that triggeres the apocalypse. In this great ballad, enhanced by the author's vibrant illustrations, Mauro Corona sings the strength and pride of all women capable of facing the hardships of existence with their heads held high: and he does so by drawing on the dialect of his land, a language mixed with sweat and blood, popping like branches that break under the weight of the snow, sweet as the caress of a mother.
